Tennis at Jacksonville Golf & Country Club, Is As Good As It Gets

If tennis is your game, there’s no better place to get involved. With league play from levels A to D for men, women, and juniors – no one gets left out. Members participate in an active calendar that offers a true balance of social and competitive play. Throughout the year we feature many events, clinics, and camps for the avid players to enhance their game and to encourage beginners with a solid foundation. Jacksonville Golf & Country Club’s tennis amenities feature 10 lighted Har-Tru courts with 2 stadium viewing areas.

A full-service Pro Shop with the latest tennis fashions and USPTA certified tennis professionals available for custom fitting services, repairs, and expert instruction. We have the pleasure of hosting the annual Jacksonville City Championship for the City of Jacksonville. We invite clubs from the area to participate by entering their best teams for ladies and men's divisions. The winner carries the trophy for a year!

Meet the Pros

  • Mark Worsham, Director of Tennis


    • Mark Worsham was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. He first took interest in tennis at the Florida Yacht Club where his parents were tennis members. Former coach and current Director of Tennis, Louis Ballantyne, sparked his interest in tennis. After gaining interest, he was asked to play number 1 singles and doubles for Episcopal High School. Mark was awarded Most Valuable Player three times in his four-year span at EHS. He spent most of high school traveling to participate in junior tournaments throughout the southeast and eventually landed in the top 50 in the state of Florida. After high school Mark received a tennis scholarship to Mercer University. There he completed 4 years of college level tennis and graduated with a degree in marketing and management. After graduating, he jumped into the tennis profession quickly and was named Assistant Professional at Epping Forest Yacht Club. He was later named Junior Director of Tennis at the Florida Yacht Club. After spending nearly 4 years there, he was asked to be the Head Pro at Jacksonville Golf and Country Club. After 2 years, he was named Director of Tennis here at Jacksonville Golf and Country Club.

  • Carlos Daza, Head Tennis Pro


    • Our Head Pro, Carlos Daza, grew up in Caracas, Venezuela. Carlos played competitively from ages 12-21 and reached the high level of #2 in the state and #19 nationally. In 2006 he moved to the US and has taught for over 15 years at numerous clubs in Orlando and Jacksonville, most recently The Planation. He is a USPTR and USPTA certified tennis pro. We are thrilled to have Carlos join us at JGCC!

  • Adam Kework, Tennis Pro
    • At the University of North Florida, Adam Kework was named All-American for singles and doubles for all four years of attendance and was inducted into the UNF Hall of Fame in 2017, professional number 1. He achieved an ATP world ranking in singles and doubles and is recognized as an Elite Coach by the United States Professional Tennis Association. For 17 years Adam served as Director of Tennis at Whippoorwill Club in Westchester County, New York. Adam loves to teach all levels of play and players of all ages!

  • Maja Ornberg, Tennis Pro


    • Maja grew up in Kil, Sweden where she played in a lot of national and international tournaments. She reached a WTA ranking before starting college in 2016. Maja played at Florida Gulf Coast University for five years at nr 1 singles and doubles and earned Freshman of the Year as well as Player of the Year. After college, she coached the FGCU Women's Tennis Team, taught at Westchester Country Club and is now a part of Jacksonville Golf & Country Club tennis staff.
